Yes ...I did my dna through myheritage ..... I contacted the father of the child that supposedly my grandmother is connected to ...

Hes as baffled as me as to why it would skip him dna wise and go to his son ....all very weird

And then to get the exact same message regarding a different guy in a different dunne family .... sooooo confused .... I uploaded to gedmatch too but sure I'd need a degree to figure that maze out

In that case, what relationship is shown between you and the son.
Which member of that Dunne family are they descended from?
Does that person know what happened to the members of the family?
You may have to go back a generation.

Similarly, can you do the same with the other connection?

That's where I'm lost ....it doesn't say I'm connected but that my dead grandmother is connected to the man's son....

So like ...my grandmother never did her DNA , only me ....so why am I not connecting to the father ???

I told the man the truth of my history and he's going to talk to family members ....

The other chap never replied...a lot of trees are private etc...so hard to figure out

Maybe then it is only using names and proposing a connection rather than showing an established one.

I don’t know enough about DNA testing on that site.

You could try posting on here for advice and interpretation of your test and match
https://www.rootschat.com/forum/ancestral-family-tree-dna-testing/

But link this thread in with your query.

Does My Heritage show you a likely relationship?
Ancestry shows that I am connected to people as likely 2nd cousin/3rd cousin.
For example, my first cousin’s son (my first cousin once removed) is a match as 2nd cousin.

Michael Dunne and Nora Gleeson of Moyneard are distant relatives of mine. Various family members have done DNA tests which could help you establish a link (depending on the DNA company used).
