James's marriage cert and Ninian's death cert  list's Ninian as a Shoemaker - could it be a mis transcription on those records.

James is also a shoemaker.

what I meant to indicate was that THAT Ninian [ie the one in the link above from raonull] was a schoolmaster; wouldn't get this confusion in other languages.

Josie - can we say that the ones that I found were correct and the school master one was not the correct one? I don't like to think that the OP would get the wrong Pa  :)

Add - He was C of Ireland so not sure any records will be found.

Yes  I believe your finds are correct & the schoolmaster not correct; there, no 'that's in that, we really do miss them out in English, don't we?
