Is this photo Tullamore RC church?
« on: Monday 01 March 21 21:46 GMT (UK) »
Dia daoibh!

I'd be grateful for confirmation that this photo is indeed that of the RC church in Tullamore.

The photo dates from Sept. 1967.

Thanks in advance for your help!

If you go into google street view and zoom into the front left corner of the car park (observing from Chapel Street), that looks very like the same statue (of Christ the King?), set a bit lower in the ground:

Could the statue have been moved at the time they were making good the damage from the fire in 1983?

If you zoom into the detail of the individual windows and buttresses in the following photo (taken after the fire but before rebuilding), you can see that they are the same, even down to the positioning of a down pipe in one instance and the number of slates (4) on top of a buttress in another instance, I imagine the other side of the church had a similar arrangement (which would look in reverse, if you get my drift):

Found a video of the aftermath of the fire, the sequence from around 5 minutes 25 seconds to 6 minutes (which shows the statue and even zooms into the area behind it) pretty well confirms that it's the same as your photo:
