Thomas Shelton Birth at Dublin Barracks
« on: Tuesday 02 March 21 11:24 GMT (UK) »
I originally posted this request on the Military board pages but this might be a more sensible place for it.

I am trying to trace a birth/baptism record for Thomas Shelton born at Dublin Barracks around 1843 (according to census records). His parents were William Shelton and Elizabeth Summer from Lincolnshire and Thomas grew up in Lincolnshire. I have no further information on William Shelton’s occupation so I don’t know if he was in the Army but it seems worth exploring to explain why Thomas was born there.

I don’t know which parish (presumably Church of Ireland) the Barracks would come under or whether records exist for this period. Please can anyone point me in the right direction of any parish records relating to the barracks?

Many thanks

In the 1851 UK Census there is a Thomas Shelton living at High Oakham Barracks aged 6 born Ireland  listed as 'Son To Private Skelton'. also it seems two siblings Edward aged 4 and William aged 1.

But this lists the wife's name as Ann Shelton
