Mary Jutsum nee Skinner St Thomas Exeter death 1806-17
« on: Wednesday 03 March 21 01:10 GMT (UK) »
Hi , I am looking for any information on Mary Jutsum nee Skinner possibility nee Chudleigh . I have a will drawn up 1806 and it is probated 1817 .
It says she lives in St Thomas Exeter Devon UK  and  she is obviously quite well to do .
In it she mentions her “ daughter in law “ ( stepdaughter Elizabeth Townson White nee Jutsum )  and my relative William Cook Jutsum .
These two siblings father is John Jutsum the husband of Mary .
I am looking for her death and if there is any inkling of her husband occupation age . This will help me identify John Jutsum .Thank you for the look up .

Could this be him too?

Thank you it gives me something to work with esp the dates , I had seen an excerpt that had Keeper and Sherriff but I didn’t nderstand it , it also had In same line John Jutsum Farmer Halberton AND John Jutsum junior St Thomas Gunsmith .. your help is getting me so close , I will write these dates down and work with them , . It is seeming likely the gunsmith Jutsum may be the ONE as he is from St Thomas , thanks for you help everyone , Fred ,

i see Mary Skinner and John Jutsum married by Licence.   What does that say?

I does seem to me that if Mary's will was proved in 1817, that the 1816 death I found is her. And the newspaper notice clearly states who John was.

I suppose it is possible or even likely for a  Keeper to have another occupation. (Farmer).

the John JUTSUM who was Keeper had a couple of insurance policies that describe him as Gent.
see London Metropolitan Archives.

There is a burial in Halberton 1786 for John JUTSUM.  no occupation given.
Presumably that is the one who married Ann BAKER at Halberton in 1776

I will get onto it , it seems more likely that it is John Jutsum the gunsmith . I will search the newspapers etc . I was trying to find photos of their gravestones but it appears that the church St Thomas Apostle may not have a graveyard , it is a constant search but I am so much closer than I was ten days ago , thanks .
