John Ulrich Sultzer?
« on: Wednesday 03 March 21 07:42 GMT (UK) »
Hello
I'm looking for more info on John Ulrich Sultzer, Gentleman and Surveyor, of Burton Overy. 1738-1783.
I believe he had an illegitimate son baptised in 1761 Hugglescote, Leicestershire. Who I believe to be my ancestor. The register states - John, son of John Sulcer and Dorothy Ellis, Baseborn.

I can find no John Sulcer anywhere, but there is a John Sultzer.
John Ellis then marries Mary Mawly in Ratby, Leicestershire.

John Ulrich Sultzer was an estate surveyor and would have traveled alot, he is in Norfolk at one point.
He married Christiana Woodward in 1771 I think, so he would have plenty of time to have had a child before then given his birthdate of 1738.

His surname and middle name seem to hint at a German or Prussian origin.

I can see some posts on here before but nothing has been added since.

Thank you, yes I had seen the will.
He doesn't mention a John Ellis but I doubt he would mention an illegitimate son when he has mentioned land going to his legitimate children.
