Hi Monica et al ,

Well the good news is I have found Isabella Milne's parents.
Also another sister of Isabella Machray 1802 - 1878 , named Helen 1806-?
Charles Clark 1805-1849 is still a complete mystery!
So the Clark Family of Scottish origin (as far as I know) has become frustratingly mysterious!  ::)

Dear All ,

I am still trying to find out who my ggg grandfather is... My ancestry tree on my side of the family has hit a brick wall. Charles married Isabella Machray 1802-1878 they had 5 daughters & 4 sons.

They married at Glenmuick 30th May 1824. I have found Isabella's parents but not Charles's parents and so my family line ends at 1805. I have found the family headstone on findagrave which is in Nellfield Cemetary , Aberdeen.

I have looked through and tried many Charles Clark's from Glenbucket , Lonmay , Kildrummy etc. Also a tentative link to a Alexander Clark of Fettercairn born 1772. I'm not sure at all about this link?

Any help to crack the great "Clark Mystery" greatly appreciated or perhaps through lack of family information I have got as far back as possible. I have all census's for the family other than 1841 , looked everywhere...

Matthew  :)

Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

Hi Matthew

Have you got sibling James Machray who is showing here https://ancestors.familysearch.org/en/LZLJ-PLP/isaac-machray-1800-1856

Can't see an entry in the OPRs for any of Peter and Isobel's children, except for Isaac.

Monica

ADDED: Some further details here for Isaac www.genealogy.com/forum/surnames/topics/machray/3/

One more popping up! Margaret Birss (born Machray), 1792 - 1889. See www.myheritage.com/names/margaret_birss  She is the third entry on the page.
