There is a baptism for a Henry Jupp, son of Henry and Sarah, in Pulborough in 1798.  He could be the son of either of those couples.  Another born in Hurstpierpoint.  Seems logical to me that the Hurspierpoint Henry is son of Henry and Sarah Nye, while the Pulborough one belongs to Sarah Boxall.

However, there is also a baptism for a Henry Jupp in Maresfield in 1802, son of Henry & Mary Jupp.

If you are sure that the census entry for the Maresfield born Henry Jupp is the correct one to link to your family by tracing backwards, then you may have to re-evaluate the 'old records.'  Otherwise, you need to check that you have the correct 1851 census entry.

The census is a copy of what I was given but the records office years ago, but I'm not convinced it is correct as the year of birth doesn't match. I was originally told That Henry was born in 1802, then I found a record that said 1798 so I'm not sure which is correct the only thing I know for definite is that Henry Jupp married Sarah Turner in 1828 and had a son named Charles.

If that's correct then the Henry from Maresfield is the right one.
His age is consistent with an 1802 birth.

When was Charles Jupp born and where?

Curiously there is a baptism for a Naomi Jupp in Brighton in 1844 - parents Henry & Sarah.  Henry was a labourer of Nelson Street.  They went for a job lot: Naomi, Sarah, Ebenezer John & Charles all baptised the same day, but no ages given.

The ancestors I am completely confident with are…
Charles Jupp 1839, Brighton married Jane Balcome 1843, Rottingdean
15 Jul 1860 St.Nicholas Church, Brighton, Sussex, England
Charles Jupp’s Parents were Henry Jupp and Sarah? (I have Turner) but this could be wrong.

Charles birth registration confirms MMN Turner.  The Brighton marriage I mentioned was Sarah Turner

Yes, this is what I have.  (BRIGHTHELMSTON is the old name of Brighton)

So at least I had the correct parents for Charles, but going back further is where I have the bigger problem.
