Daventry marriage
« on: Friday 05 March 21 18:37 GMT (UK) »
Can anyone help me interpret this please? Would I be right in thinking that the parish of St Mary is the groom's parish, and is Whitechapel in London?
1776, George Collard and Sarah Brooke, by licence, transcribed by Northants FHS.

Thanks, London does make a certain amount of sense in this case.

the register for Northamptonshire says that the Groom is from the parish of St Marys whitechapel L ondon but I think it means they married in Daventry they were marrie by curate J Slade who I think was curate in Daventry his son James Slade became a Cannon of Chester Cathedral

Could this be a baptism to look at for George

George Collard 26th Dec 1750 St Helen's Bishopsgate City of London.

did George and Sarah move to London after the wedding?

Thomas Collard, born about 1781, who was my starting point, was probably bapt at St Mary Aldermary in the city of London in 1782, son of George and Sarah. It all seems to lead back to London.
Oh dear, I have just checked something else and I think I have the wrong man! I wondered how he came to be born in London.
Sorry! But thanks for your interest.
