† Chris Swarbrooke, Chris 1066Land has sadly died †
« on: Friday 05 March 21 19:57 GMT (UK) »
This is so very difficult to write.

It is with a saddened heart to let you know, that Chris Swarbrooke, known to us as Chris 1066Land to us, has died. He suffered from a very difficult medical condition in his later years and passed away on the 20th of January.

Chris was one of our first members, one of our moderators, and many hundreds of you will have received a lot of endless help from him.

His legacy still lives on in all the work that he did in genealogy and local history, and the help that he gave people still remains a testament to him. He was the authority on many subjects, and through his hard work and sheer dedication, many mysteries and things that were otherwise lost were brought to life. He helped countless people, endlessly, in their search for their own family history. His dedication knew no bounds. He continues now as part of that very history, the endless timeline.

Please join us in our memory of him.

What sad news to hear that we have lost one of the valued RootsChat family. Chris was a very knowledgeable man and as you say helped a lot of people break down those brick walls.

My condolences to his family and friends.

Sad news indeed.

A quick google search of his name returns loads of genealogical results showing just how far his interests spread.

Chris was always very supportive generous and helpful to all he came across, I will remember most the fun we had on our RootsChat meet on the South coast and our evening chats in "lancashire Dialect" his ancestors were from Lancashire and I had the pleasure of being able to share and discover with him photographs of his ancestors homes long before google came along.

Chris will be having a goblet of mead tonight and teaching some medieval cooking somewhere out there....last time "up the apples and pears" tonight !!

God bless

Sarah :-* :'(

Oh dear, I am so sorry to hear this. I was only thinking of him a couple of days ago. Such a great help to so many. He was certainly a huge help to me when I first joined Rootschat.

Quite devastated to read this.  He was always a fantastic and willing guide in so many different areas of family history. So much knowledge shared, so much enthusiasm for the subject.

RIP Chris. You will be missed.
