On his marriage in 1856 to Margaret Webster

His parents are listed as James
Reid ,labourer and Helen Johnston

I would like to
Find a marriage for
The parents but can’t ?

Also looking for birth of his father James as I’m trying to work back on the Reid line ?

Have you looked them up on the 1861 census to get their birthyears and birthplaces? If you don’t know John’s birthplace your subject header is misleading as it reads as though he was from Crovie

Maybe 1851 or 1861 would be a good cenus search thanks ,

Strange thing is John’s parents aren’t listed as deceased in 1856 on his marriage cert

Where is John Reid in 1851/1861/1871 as there is no Scottish entry with a birthplace of Crovie

I can only view a transcript but yes, 1841 has a John Reid 5 yrs iwith a Watt family - George and Helen and 1 yr old Helen.

Helen Johnstone 45 yrs
Helen Watt 19 yrs
Fits with 1841 so far
Plus a host of other names - some repeated but no John or John Reid but of course he would be married then.
