Wales to Pennsylvania
« on: Sunday 07 March 21 20:23 GMT (UK) »
Hello hope someone can help.

I have a John Reese born Wales around 1815/16, father of Sarah Elizabeth Reese born 1847 in Pennsylvania. Sarah Married Henry Cleaver in 1867 I have a lot after her marriage regarding children etc, but do not have her marriage details.

This is the family in the census I can find.

1850 census  https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:M4CW-MPW

1860 census https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MX58-CTS

Some trees on Ancestry suggest Sarah parents are John Reese & Margaret Griffiths. There are a lot of discrepancies as lots have just copied.

I have a possible DNA connection to Sarah and my Rees family in Wales. I do not have a sub outside of the UK.

Looking to find passenger lists, any BMD on John, Margaret or Reese children in Pennsylvania.

Trees have John death in 1892, but there is another possible 1891in Danville, Montour, PA on find a grave, where they are in 1860.  Also Margaret bc 1826 Wales is given as died 1875 PA

Thanks if you can help

Cas

"I do not have a sub outside of the UK."

You don't need a paid subscription for FamilySearch which has a pretty good collection of Pennsylvania records and, of course, many other US records.  You have to register but there's no cost and it's by far the best source of free US data.

Sarah's death certificate lists her parents as John Reese & Margaret Griffiths, both born Wales, so that may be where that information came from on the trees you found.

Sarah's obituary says she got married in February 1867 and lists her parents as the late John X. & Margaret Reese.  https://www.newspapers.com/clip/72916779

The middle initial X may fit with the 1891 death - https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/174515984/john-x.-reese

This might be John in the 1880 census - https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MWNP-BNZ
