Registers of poor Children - St Boltoph, Middlesex
« on: Wednesday 10 March 21 13:08 GMT (UK) »
Hi there. I am having trouble interpreting these records for a Robert Weaver. On the face of it, things seem simple; i.e that he was admitted at the age of 16. However, the register itself specifies that it is for children under the age of 14. Also appears that his mother is an un-names spinster from Jersey?

Trying to ascertain if this could be my ancestor.

It’s difficult to read the heading of the relevant column, but looking at other entries (one appears to say’picks okum’) I think ‘spins jersey’ is an occupation not a reference to the mother’s marital status or where she’s from.

It's definitely an occupation. Another entry in the same column says 'winds silk'.

Last column of the left hand page is headed

What work
Children past
Six years of Age
are employed
in
If can read r
If can say his
her prayers p
If both r.p

The last 3 numbers of the url are the page number
https://www.dhi.ac.uk/san/pl/BA/RC/GLBARC10801/GLBARC108010229.jpg

The above is left hand page 229 change the last 3 numbers to 230 to change to the next page or 231 to jump to the next left hand page
Cheers
