Or as we keep saying Rosie - keep trying - I logged out of ancestry last Thursday to try the link (using a desktop) and it took 2 hours before that offer came up.

I agree.  :).    Another poster was having problems the other day and when they logged into their Ancestry account it worked.   These glitches are caused by all sorts of things  ;D

This is gradually showing signs of theft.
I believe I’ve been a member for over 15 years and they automatically debit my account.
15-01-15 = 140.47€
16-01-16 = 159.78€
17-01-17 = 139.25€
14-01-18 = 136.91€ (£117)

The cost price variations are probably due to the £/€/$ exchange.
Not once have they EVER proposed a 50% reduction.  This is what I mean about automatic account debit.  Theft…, or economical with the truth.

It can't be theft you have allowed them to do it.

Its an old link Iain they never make you that offer, its just us cunning members have found it and used it and passed it on for years.  Hopefully no one rings up and draws attention to it, that would scupper it for everyone. We know its been mentioned on other genealogy sites.

Just keep trying the link Iain - we had someone who managed to get the offer in December thru ancestry.se (Sweden) - Another one got it thru ancestry.ca (Canada)

Another interesting fact which might be useful in the future - Usually if one ancestry site goes down, you can sign in to another and most often that works. So a subscription with one country works with all the others.

Hi Rosie...   No..., my membership is terminated. (no access)

You can still log in even though your membership is not current.  I have just tried it with my OH's account just to confirm it.

I agree with Rosie.  When I renewed my membership, after quite a long break away, I still had to be logged in before it offered the 50% discount.

Your subscription may be terminated, but your membership doesn't disappear with it.  That will still be set up ready for any time you might decide to subscribe again.   In the meantime you should still have limited access to the site.
