John Ripley mother Alice or Mary??
« on: Friday 12 March 21 19:32 GMT (UK) »
Evening all, my 5th gt grandparents are John Ripley b 1741 Leeds, married at St Oswald Methley, Leeds to Mary Winter b1741
now i have Johns father from possible baptism at Holbeck as John.
now im trying to find who he married/ John b1741 mother?.
a few people have John Ripley and Alice Rhodes, marriage 1738 Guiesley, Leeds, now i dont think this is correct. i have a John Ripley died May 1780 says Widow from Black Bank Leeds aged 66 which puts his birth as 1714 abt. and then in Jan 1780 there is a Mary Ripley death says wife of John Ripley Black Bank, Leeds.  which puts her birth as 1717 abt.
now i know Black Bank is where easterly Road is roughly now, ive also seen that there is a couple of baptisms for John Ripley, 1: born June, July baptism 1714 but also died 1716. and a few more different years but non from Leeds.
a few people have the June 1714 linked to John who married Alice.

but i cannot find a marriage for John Ripley to Mary ?? from Black Bank.
any help please ? Thankyou

Yes you get that without selecting event/year for records.
eg select Guiseley https://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/YKS/WRY/Guiseley then an event say marriages 1830 to1870 then enter  Ripley into search.
All instances of Ripley are then highlighted when using up/down arrow.
[You only need to do the CTRL+F once then open any document prior to entering a search term.]

Did I ever give you a copy of 'History of the mid westriding of yorkshire'?
[Info was on a DVD disc]
Looking at one section births/marriages and deaths Leeds Parish Registers 1572-1776, plenty of Ripley events in and around Leeds.

Anticipating no DVD I have copied another plus done a print out of the info on each chapter, think of the disc as a book with each chapter dealing with sections of history.
