That certificate names your Williams father as George Smith.  The other marriage for William Smith the father was Silas.

Rosie,  I know re George but they are from a Line of Travellers who often used Alias's or told fibs.

They did not have to be travellers to tell fibs, it happened regularly on marriages.  Have you compared the signatures on the marriage certificates, it would have to be the register image and not a GRO 'copy'
