Bruce Huts
« on: Monday 15 March 21 10:56 GMT (UK) »
Reading the War Diary for the 1/6th Gordon Highlanders, I found that, after Beaumont Hamel, in December 1916 they were in billets and 'BRUCE HUTS' (near Aveluy). Does anyone know what Bruce Huts were?

Grateful for any help with this.

Just a guess, but would it make sense for this to be exactly what it seems ie huts used as accommodation? I notice there are numerous mentions of "huts" which seem to be named after someone.

Maybe something along these lines:

Or Nissen huts?  :-\

Thanks to both for the help. I wasn't sure if there was something specific about the huts that made them "Bruce" huts, or if they were just huts and Bruce gave the location.

The map is very helpful - my Great Uncle was in the 1/6 Gordons at the time and I am tracing his life during the War. This gives a very precise location for him at that time.
