The text document has printed normally, that was after a page that had a half inch strip of the picture. It seems as if that's in the printer's memory, I looked earlier about how to clear that, it was just the unplug trick but that didn't rectify it.

Note that Roobarb is able to print text and test files with no problem

There are reports on the Family Historian User Group that the KB5000802 update had prevented some reports etc printing in the latest FH v.7, and that the KB5001567 one hadn't fixed it. FH v.6 is said to be unaffected.

A suggested workaround was that reports could be created in .rtf format and printed from a word processor. This does all suggest that the issue isn't affecting every program, so could possibly be behind Roobarb's problem.
Researching among others:
Bartle, Bilton, Bingley, Campbell, Craven, Emmott, Harcourt, Hirst, Kellet(t), Kennedy,
Meaburn, Mennile/Meynell, Metcalf(e), Palliser, Robinson, Rutter, Shipley, Stow, Wilkinson

Something else it might be worth Roobarb trying, as a possible workaround until the problem gets sorted properly:

Save one of the problem jpgs as some other sort of graphics file - gif, bmp, whatever.  That's "save as" from within the graphics program, don't just change the extension in file manager.  Then try to print the new file.  I'd suggest trying it with something small as you must be close to running out of ink by now!

My thinking behind this is that all computer files that we use on a daily basis have control characters embedded digitally within them.  It seems to be only jpgs that are giving Roobarb's printer a problem.  Although we all personalise our computers to use specific software for certain file types, it's not the .doc or .jpg or .txt  or .ftw extension alone that tells your computer what program to use to open them;  when you save/create the file the software being used (word, irfanview, notepad, FTM etc) embeds these control characters.  I'm wondering if the HP printer is "seeing" these control characters and interpreting them as "don't print the middle part of this file".  If you save as something different then the control characters that say "this is a jpg" will be replaced with something different, which may not cause the printer to misbehave.

Jane :-)

Is it the same printer as this one that you had problems with a few months ago, Roobarb?

Maybe it does need the driver reloaded  :-\

The very same one Gadget.  :(

Some of what Jane said was lost on me but I've got the gist of it, will see what happens with that and if unsuccessful will do the reinstall. Again! You're right Jane, it has been a rather ink consuming process! Will report back later.

Thanks folks.   :)

Latest:

Saved as a PNG file as the quality is better, tried printing, same problem as before.
Uninstalled the printer, reinstalled. Tried printing file (jpeg), same problem.
Ran the troubleshooter, result was that ink levels were low. (Hardly surprising  ::) ).
Replaced cartridge, test page printed, scanned as required for alignment, not recognised so default setting.
Tried to print again, same problem.
Turned off and left it before I throw it out of the window.  >:(

I thought afterwards that I should have tried again to print the PNG file but I've had enough fo rtoday.  :(

Well don't dash out to buy a replacement printer just yet, limited supplies of printers available.
