More HP printer problems

I haven't watched it but from the sound it makes it's as if it's printing the whole page.  The middle part is just the pristine paper, the other bits are printed normally.

I haven't tried a page of text, will try that.

I meant what the input was like - e.g. I know you like to print out your art work and I was thinking that it might be  different in the centre of the page.

Also - try printing a test page in addition to the text page.

The text document has printed normally, that was after a page that had a half inch strip of the picture. It seems as if that's in the printer's memory, I looked earlier about how to clear that, it was just the unplug trick but that didn't rectify it.

Gadget, the picture is of boats, part of the sky printed as normal and part of the beach they're pulled up onto, quite a lot more of the picture should print as sky and beach.  There are no smudges or incorrect colours.  Hope that answers what you meant!  When I aligned the printer head it automatically produces a test page that you have to scan to complete the process (which I did).

Are the same strips printing each time, or do they change? 

I'm just wondering if you could try turning it so that it's printing as the opposite layout (i.e. landscape/portrait, etc).

I've only tried it in landscape format. Difficult to explain this but if the sheet of paper had a grid of ten squares down the shortest side, two squares at the top of those ten would be printed (right across the long side) and one of the ten at the bottom would be printed (again, right across the long side). The remaining seven squares in the middle would have no printing on them. The picture consists across the width of sky, sea, beach. Basically it means that half of the sky, all of the sea and three quarters of the beach are missing, so if I printed it in portrait format they wouldn't join up. I hope that clarifies rather than confuses!

That's very kind of you Gadget. The thing is, I tried to print three other pictures on Friday and they all did the same so it can't be the file. Thank you anyway.

Well, if it's printing text and test files OK, it's not a simple printer error. 

It could be your paper. I've been printing my art works for many years and some papers can cause problems. Sometimes the rollers don't grip photo paper. OR, there's something wrong with the image files.

Maybe phoning HP would be the best thing.

It's really odd because I'm using the same paper and jpeg files. Thanks for your help and suggestions.

I recall reading somewhere on t'internet in the last week or so (sadly I can't recall where exactly) that the latest Windows 10 upgrade has badly affected some users of HP printers...it caught my eye because mine is an HP Printer but apparently unaffected. I don't understand these things very well but apparently certain printer drivers are affected?

Might be a media scare-story and I'm sorry I can't be more precise but might be worth checking up on if somebody has expertise?
