Alfred Edwin Jones 1881 census
« on: Tuesday 16 March 21 08:43 GMT (UK) »
Hi all, I’m hoping someone can find the above person in the 1881 census when he would have been about 3 years old. I’ve only found him on the 1911 census on family search. He was born in Panteg Dec quarter of 1878. I’ve had a dna match with a descendant of his but would like to find the Jones link that I think goes back at least another generation to tie in with mine. I have John Jones born in Llangibby in 1849 and his father dob unknown.

There is the following in 1881.
Alfred Jones (2) born Panteg in household of Joshua and Elizabeth Jones, living Panteg. Another child, Mary Ann (7), appears to have been born Sep 1874. Pontypool. Mmn Rosser.

Thank you both very much. Perhaps Joshua is the link to my John and his father William. These Welsh villages and parishes weren’t very far apart were they!

Online tree has 1911 census you quote with Alfred Edwin with family his parents on this tree are Alfred & Louisa Bodeman or similar name. If tree correct unsure.

I have many Jones in my own tree, the DNA connection may not be Jones but through a spouse.  Why do you think Alfred Edwin connects to your John Jones?

Just curious

Cas

Hi Cas, the 1911 Alfred Edwin is in Abersychan with a son Edward George. Edward is definitely the grandfather of my dna match. I’m going down the Jones line as through MyHeritage I have a cousins son who is an overwhelming match with me. That match is through my dads sister ( born Jones). MyHeritage has given me a match with Edwards granddaughter but also my cousins son as a match with her. I hope that makes sense, Phil (Jones).

Brenton  boy, blimey, you could throw a blanket over these addresses. It’s so frustrating that you take a step forward and then it’s stalemate for ages.My grt grt grandfather William was dead by the time his son John got married in 1874. The marriage took place when John lived in Tredunnock and one of the witnesses was a William Skipp.
