Death records in Queensland are not publicly available for 30 years after the death so you will not be able to access a death certificate.  If he was a visitor then surely the British Consulate would have to notified of his death.  Perhaps they would be allowed to tell you exactly where he died - Queensland is a big place.

Thanks for this.  I have checked his Baptism Certificate and whilst it is indistinct it could read 1945!
So I need to look again for a Barry James Smith 1945 - 2007!  M
