Mackenzie family in Demerara, Guiana

Trying to find out about the Mackenzie family who were rubber planters, in Demerara, Guiana (now Guyana).
Mostly concerning John Mackenzie (b. 14/3/1799, d. Stirling 9/9/1854) at Leguan Island, on the Essequibo River, Demerara.
He was a younger son of Gilbert Mackenzie of Invershin and Rearchen, Scotland.

Does anyone know of resources available that would help with my research from theses areas.
