There's a sister Mary born Jun 1861 Leigh with mothers name Dean but 1861 is a bit odd as there is a son Abel 14, not sure where he came from.

Richard Litherland 35
Elizabeth 35 silk weaver
Joseph 5
Abel 14 silk weaver
Mary 7 months but actually the original says 7 days

Possibly Abel was Abel Dean born Dec 1846 Warrington

Couple of things yes Culcheth is a place sub district of Wigan & Leigh or just Leigh on some records but a village in Warrington. Lol.
Is Alms house a workhouse?

And sorry just realized he was a plate layer on Richards marriage.

There is a Richard baptised 22 Apr 1827 (born 17 Mar) Winwick parents William & Mary.

Wiliiam is a weaver living Risley.

Richards marriage to Elizabeth Dean will confirm if his father was William.

And from the wonderful Lancashire Online Parish Clerk site

Marriage 20 Oct 1850 Christ Church Croft Lancs

Richard Litherland full age bachelor labourer Risley
Elizabeth Dean full age spinster weaver Croft

His father William labourer
Her father Edward labourer

Witnesses
Hamlet Dean of Croft
John Smith

That helps doesn't it and a Dean witness as an added bonus!

Oh thank you all starting to make sense now so Elizabeth had a child before they married but not from a previous marriage & child may have been Richards. Think this is why I thought had wrong family.

Wonder if this is William & Mary in 1841

William Litherland 50
Mary 40
William 12
Ellis 4

The boys from the 1851 - Joseph & Thomas I think have mothers maiden name Peak so can look for a William Litherland/Mary Peak marriage.

That actually works a treat as in 1861 Joseph age 19 is a boarder with a Peak family.
