Ballyroe, Clugga, County Clare
« on: Friday 19 March 21 10:31 GMT (UK) »
Hi there,

I am looking for help in finding my Great Aunt, Mary Keogh who left Ireland in 1909, settling in New York City. When Mary Left Ireland she would have been 23 years old. When she arrived in NY she stayed with her Cousin Margaret Manning ( Also from Ballyroe). I lost track of Mary Keogh in 1914. That year her brother Thomas Naughton travelled to New York to stay with her. I think her address at that time would have been, 116, East and 46th Street, NY. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. In 1914, Mary Keogh would have been 28 years old.

Kind regards,

WillowTea

Hi KG,

Thanks so much for sending that. Yes, I found all the census information from Ireland, but when she goes to America in 1909 the trail goes cold after 1914. I suppose she must have married and the name changed. But, I really appreciate you sending that information.

Kind regards

There is Mary Keough in 1940 age 58 in NY living with brother Michael and Sister Margaret... maybe you saw that already on FS site...

Do you know any other of her siblings besides Thomas?

Hi Alan,

Yes, that sounds like her. She also had a brother called Michael. What is the FS site that you speak of? Thank you so much. The Keough spelling of the name is right too.

Thank you for this,

Kind regards,

WillowTea

That information does not match 1901 census given in reply #1, unfortunately.

There were a large number of Mary Keough's in Ireland...and having made the trip to USA. Many of them use middle names. Do you happen to know one for your Mary Keough?
