Barry James Smith 1945 - 2007
« on: Friday 19 March 21 14:00 GMT (UK) »
Hi.  I am trying to trace details of the death of my first cousin: Barry James Smith.  It is believed that he died suddenly and was cremated in Queensland in 2007. no further details are known.  My cousin, who was not married, visited friends in Queensland on a regular basis and is understood to have died there suddenly.
However he is often confused with another Barry James Smith who was married to a Kay and who died in 2012 in Victoria.
Any help you can give would be appreciated. M

Did he have any siblings who can confirm details for you?

Hi M
Some thoughts --
did he leave a will?
or even die intestate with sufficient property for probate to be paid?
-- that would have been probated in the state where he lived
and as part of the process his death details would have had to be included.

Newspaper notices -- if he regularly visited friends
there might have been a death, funeral or in memoriam notice.
Is Queensland on the Ryerson index?
or maybe someone placed a notice in a NSW paper?

I do not know how many crematoria there are in Queensland
but an enquiry to any local to the area he visited might yield results
or the local undertaker.

An unexpected death might have resulted in an inquest or followed a hospital admission.

Have you approached Qld bdm to see if a death certificate is obtainable?
Did he have siblings?
Could you trace the friends?

Sorry this is all questions and no answers.

regards pH
