Burial registered Rotherham
« on: Friday 19 March 21 16:23 GMT (UK) »
Looking for place & date of death of one of my Great Grandmothers. Her name was Hannah Woodward born Newton in 1817. She last appeared on the 1891 census living in Hunshelf, near Stocksbridge, South Yorkshire. The only registered date of death I have found that fits her details, is Rotherham 1900 age 83. Stocksbridge is not part of the Rotherham reg. district so I do not want to buy the BMD certificate as it is unlikely to be her death record. If someone can look-up this burial, place, date I would be obliged. Nb. Catliffe parish has a remote connection to her family. Thanks, Adjer.

This matches with qtr of death and age  :-\

Hannah Woodward
Age   83
Burial date 10 Oct 1900
Place   Newbold, Derbyshire

ADDED I see that this would tie in with her place of birth

Thanks very much Rosie99 for the burial info. I was so surprised & happy that a longstanding puzzle is solved. As you say it fits in with her birth district & general background. It looks as if the death registered in Rotherham district is also correct suggesting that she probably died in Catliffe near Rotherham since three of her married grandchildren lived there. They went to a lot of trouble bringing her back to Newbold for burial. Horse & cart? abt. 12 miles.
I do have a copy of Newbold burials but can no longer open it as it is a very old file. So I did have the answer all the time but didn't know it. Thanks again, Adjer.
