Mary Buxton 1735 Osmaston by Ashbourne
« on: Friday 19 March 21 18:43 GMT (UK) »
I have Mary Buxton married to John Wibberley 1757 at Osmaston.
Her death record in Osmaston in 1813 suggests her birth was 1735.
On ancestry, I found a record for Mary Buxton baptised 1735 osmaston by Ashbourne.
However, there’s no entry for this on the parish records as far as I can see?

There’s a Mary Buxton with parents German and elizabeth Buxton 1733 Ashbourne.

There a John Buxton and Eleanor Scott married there in 1733.

Can anyone else see the baptism?

Thanks.

Thank you both.
I’m trying to check out all the dead ends in a tree I’m doing for a friend. Once I know they’re real dead ends, I can finish writing it up and give it to her.
I’ll check these out.

Hi,

There appears to be no image on Ancestry for this marriage just the transcript.  Oamaston by Ashbourne registers are not included in the Derbyshire Parish Registers which contain images.

On family search there are images of the Bishops transcripts for Osmaston by A

Film no 007906542
There are 182 images in this set you need image 33.   Mary’s bapt., is 3rd from bottom of page

Hi again.

Thanks for the link Spendlove. Going back through that register, I also found John’s baptism Feb 1702/3 to Robert and Jane nee Johnson and also their  marriage in 1692 also Osmaston.

On this link ...

(Click on the Staffordshire one on the right).

https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/M8SL-43G

There’s a marriage licence for Robert and Jane.
It says that she was from ashburn (Ashbourne) and he was from fillingbon derby. I can’t find a fillingbon anywhere??

I’ve looked on Ashbourne and Osmaston parish registers and can’t find a birth for either of them. I tried family search too but didn’t come up with anything either.

Any ideas?

Also ... John Buxton, father of my original Mary. I found two marriages:
1) to Sybil Hind in Osmaston 1728 (family search)
2) to Eleanor Scott 1733 Ashbourne (ancestry)

I couldn’t find a death for either woman to see if maybe he had married both! Also can’t find any other children of John’s, which seems strange.

So any help here would be great as well.

Thank you again 🤞🏻😊

Looking at the marriage bond, I think Fillingbon is Tissinton, near Ashbourne.
