Mary Jane STOCKMAN (BLANK)
« on: Saturday 20 March 21 21:45 GMT (UK) »
Hi Everyone
There may not be too much on Mary Jane and  family other than I already have but here’s hoping.  Firstly from the 1841 Census-

Potential on 1841 - in Angel Crescent, Bridgwater. None born in county

Willm Stockman    30
Cathe Stockman    30
Willm Stockman    6
Elizth Stockman    4y 6 Mo
Sarah Stockman    2y 6 Mo
Mary Stockman       9 months

HO107; 971; 9; 9;

STOCKMAN, MARY  JANE
mother's maiden name      DOYLE
Q4  1840 BRIDGWATER UNION  Volume 10  Page 303.

Mary Jane Stockman was married to Charles John BLANK in 1860, Devon.  On 1861 Census and sister Sarah Stockman is living with them.  Mary born Bridgwater on Census!

I would like to find a baptismal record if possible for Mary Jane Stockman or a possible death of William STOCKMAN. I did find one death for a William Stockman aged 37 in 1845 in Worle, Somerset.

Catherine (Doyle) Stockman was a widow on the 1851 Census living in Devon, around Tormoham!!  Catherine was born in Jersey, Channel Islands St. Helier.  I have had no luck tracing her origins/birth as yet.

Kindest regards and thanks in advance Dianna

If you've already posted about her, I sincerely doubt there will be little left to find.

Where do you feel a gap in information is?

Pauline

Hi Pauline thanks hopefully just finding Mary Janes baptismal record would be good. I found her brother Williams in 1834 and her sister Elizabeths in 1836 both in Devon not Somerset!!

I guess I will have to order her marriage certificate to Charles J. Blank and that will be that I think.  Regards Dianna

Hi Jo Thanks for that.  Wonder if that is really her middle name, seems odd!  Perhaps meant to be Ann?? or could this possibly be the surname of one of her ancestors as you most probably know it was quite common to use family surnames as middle names. Many thanks for your time. Regards Dianna

Hi Dianna,

If this was the death of my 'suspected' William Stockman, I'd order the DC & hopefully his wife Catherine or one of his children was the informant.

While I was typing, the message from jo was posted...

What was the occ. of William in 1841 which may add more weight to the baptism of Sarah Hand Stockman in 1838?

Hi I think William was a labourer!!  I will have to relook at the census.  Not sure what the 1841 Census had for occ!  I thought at first that they were in the workhouse/poorhouse.  My assumption seeing as Union was mentioned on Possibly Mary Janes birth registration.  Thanks Dianna

Looking at this I cannot see an occupation! BUT from memory the baptism of William and Elizabeth he was a laborer will double check though.  Dianna

Looking at the three baptism's (family search) England, Devon Bishop's Transcripts, 1558-1887.  William 1834, Elizabeth 1836 and Sarah HAND// 1838.  Father William is a laborer.

I guess I should be looking for Bishops transcripts for Somerset?? For Mary Jane Perhaps if that exists.  Dianna
