Henry Granger lookup in Auckland

Hi all

I've had a possible hit on one of my wife's relatives in New Zealand. 

The relative is Henry James Joshua Granger, born 3 Jan 1877 in Durban, South Africa.  I've found a burial record for 12 Apr 1954 in Purewa Cemetery, Meadowbank, Auckland, New Zealand for someone of the same name and born in 1877.  I'm trying to work out if it is the same person.

A tree on Ancestry said place of birth was Ireland, but another on Geni said South Africa.  The only way to be sure is to see if the death record has any extra info.

I'd be very grateful if anyone would be able to perform a lookup for me.

As you've quoted the (apparent) name of your relative, why is the person of the same rather unusual set of names, not then the person you are seeking ??

What information you find on trees, you take with a grain of salt. Sometimes, it is like the game of "Chinese Whispers". As you said, the only way to know for sure is to get the Death Printout, then you know what is the right information.

... yes, agree with what you've said about "online trees" (or any "trees" for that matter)  .

Perhaps if PotHunter comes back to us with additional information, we may be able to look further for this Mr GRANGER.

Not sure if the spelling of surname "GRAINGER" (on cemetery record) was what decided you against the deceased being your relative

But on the NZ Marriages index (NZSG CD version) there is this marriage >>

Henry James Joshua  GRANGER -- Edith Hannah SMYTHEMAN -- Year of marriage  1909
