Margaret Anne Waller committed to Monaghan District Asylum 1889?
« on: Tuesday 23 March 21 00:02 GMT (UK) »
In Bailieborough Petty Sessions records in 1889, a Thomas Waller accuses a Margaret Anne Waller of assault and being a dangerous lunatic, and she's then sentenced to be committed to Monaghan District Asylum.

Is there a way to see if and when she went to the asylum and if so, for how long?

Any information gratefully received.

Same Thomas ?
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/deaths_returns/deaths_1898/05840/4654185.pdf

This is part of what I'm trying to find out. I think it's the same Thomas, but not 100% sure.
If so, I'm trying to work out whether the Margaret Anne Waller he had committed as a lunatic was his daughter, and if so, then how long did she stay at the asylum, if she was then present as his death 8 years later, and inherited from him (before then marrying William Barrett in her 40s).

OR if there's another Margaret Anne Waller who he had committed who isn't his daughter, and if so, who is SHE?

Thank you for the help.

Thomas seems to have a busy life looking at the records.

As Margaret Ann is Mrs Barrett by 1901, that can’t be her in the asylum in 1901.

Were there other Wallers in the area?

Yes, quite a few Wallers and a few of us are trying to work out who's who, and who's related!
This asylum query doesn't seem to have yielded any clarification, but it was worth a try. Thank you for responding!

Hi

From the Death of Thomas Waller age 75 in Dec 1897, that Dathai gives above, it looks like Thomas was born c. 1822.

A Thomas Waller was a Marriage Witness in Killinkere Church in 1857, and also the poster states there’s a possibility that he was Mary Jane Magill’s step-father:-

Might be unconnected, but worth checking out.

irishgenealogy.ie lists the 1846 Marriage of Thomas Waller to Eleanor Magill (nee Waller) a Widow in Killinkere.   Witnesses were Thomas Waller and Henry Waller.  See:-
