Just found a baptism for Rosetta Carle, parents William Carle and Iffel Andrews which took place at St George's RC Cathedral, Southwark on 24 July 1889. Rosetta's sister Maud was baptised at the same time.

Rosetta born 25 September 1886 and Maud born 25 January 1884

As the Maria this post is about wasn't born until 1855 not,it cant be her in report.
Quote :- It was perhaps a family name.
There is a newspaper report -1835, Canterbury.
Effield Maria Andrews accused of stealing a half handkerchief and some ribbons. It looks as though she was acquitted.
Has any one any sight of the one mentioned in 1835,I cant see anywhere.

That’s what I meant - as it is such an unusual name, I was wondering if it was passed down to her.

I have found the newspaper report, it doesn't say much more, except that there was Catherine Andrews involved as well.
