John Aitchison,Glasgow, died 1859 aged 90

I am researching John Aitchison but limited information eg death cert, 1851 census (two unmarried daughters and grandson), but no marriage details or daughters birth/death dates on Scotlands People. There may be a Berwick connection. If I could find John's wife this would be a great lead. David

Many thanks for your speedy response. I also read his inventory which confirms his two daughters as executors and they seem to have lived all their lives in Glasgow. I found the patent for evaporating machines and a couple of addresses, probably business addresses, in Glasgow which no longer exist. It's very odd that the daughters birth and deaths are not recorded or John's marriage! I did look for whole of Scotland. The grandson may be a berwick connection (census sates him as being born in England). David

A November 1848 marriage notice found in various newspapers of timescale:

.   Hugh Robertson, of Gartlock. to Margaret, eldest daughter of John Aitchison, Esq. merchant, Glasgow.   

Also, two July 1849 deaths:

.    Sauchiehall Street, on the Ist instant, James, second son. aynd Deptford on the 2d, Walter, eldest son of Mr. John Aitchison, merchant, Glasgow.
