Browne family Drapersfield House Cloghog County Londonderry
« on: Thursday 25 March 21 16:14 GMT (UK) »
Hi
I have spent several months trying to establish the connection between William Browne (1805-1896) of Drapersfield House, Cloghog, County Londonderry and the Brown(e) family of Trinaltenagh, Garvagh.  I have now established that William Browne of Drapersfield was the son of Rev.Solomon Brown of Castledawson Presbyterian Church and this indeed confirms the link.
With the immense help from contacts in Dublin and Canada, it has been possible to put together William Browne's family.  Also of considerable help was the will of his daughter Marian Browne who died in 1902.  William Browne (1805-1896) was married to Elizabeth Graham (1808-1891) and one of their sons was Samuel Graham Browne.
Samuel Graham Browne was married to Dorothea Enriqueta Browne according to Marian's will - this is where the trail goes cold!  There is the suggestion that Samuel Graham Browne went to the USA - San Francisco, but a contact there advises that due to the earthquake there, that the majority of records were lost/destroyed!  The "Enriqueta" suggests a Spanish/Latin background.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you, Brown1777

Marian appears in the 1901 census living with her brother William and his wife Sarah.  Marian and William are both recorded as being born in Belfast and earning an income from the land:

William and Sarah married in Holywood, County Down in 1867 and both him and his father William are recorded on the certificate as being Merchants.  A copy of the certificate is here:

In case you don’t have it OP, others might be interested in the location of Drapersfield House in Cloghog townland (east of Cookstown) which is now a nursing home.

Linked is Marian’s death in 1902 in Loy which is a townland in the centre of Cookstown.

Irish Genealogy has the marriage cert of Graham Browne and Eliza Isabella Hill, 22 Aug 1883. Graham's residence is Draperfield, Cookstown, occpn. linen manufacturer, father William Browne, gentleman.
Have you searched for "Graham Browne" as well as "Samuel Graham Browne"?

Kiltaglassan - thank you, I had already those details, but as you say, others may be interested!

Hanes Teulu - thank you.  Yes, the name Graham occurs in the name of 3 sons and 1 grandson.  Interestingly, Graham's widow, Eliza Isabella, died in Larne in 1948, but despite my son searching, the house she and her family lived in , does not appear to exist any longer.  Doctor David Graham Browne who married Emily Lazenby, died in Australia.  I simply have no details for Samuel Graham Browne and his wife Dorathea Enriqueta Browne - possibility they were in USA and possibly married/lived there????
The Brown/Browne family were extremely talented and the world was their oyster. Thanks again, Brown1777
