What is this age?

I would appreciate an interpretation of the age at death of the person buried on December 30th. FindMyPast has transcribed it as 20, but this seems very unlikely, since the individual was a “Gentleman” and also there is a 2 lower down, which is quite different. Might it be 80?

I would definitely say that the figure is "8" - look at all the "date of ..." entries =  1813 and 1814
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

The handwriting has the classic downstrokes = heavy pressure on the pen, and up-strokes =  light pressure on the pen.

P.S. no tutor/teacher ever instructed a pupil to write a number two in that dodgy style.  lol.
