Would anyone know whether or not this building was roofed?    I have seen photographs and it seems as though it is, though I have read elsewhere that Buffalo Bill did his shows in the open air?    Would anyone know?

That should read 'East END Exhibition buildings'.

There is this in a newspaper of 1891, though it seems to contradict itself

It does contradict doesn't it - all open but with a roof!

Unless it means as we would say today "open plan" ie one big space inside.

Mmmmm.    I wonder?     I think it probably does mean it had a full roof, but I'm imagining a sort of canopy over the spectators (as you say, like a football stadium).    Wish I could find a photo of it.       I've got an awful lot of information about this now, but still have a few gaps that I'd love to fill.

For instance: how much would the tickets have been and, when he did the show for all the schoolchildren on Christmas Eve 1891, was it free?      My great grandfather lived in Bridgeton.  He would have been seven when Buffalo Bill was there.   But, bearing in mind he was one of eleven kids, I'm thinking that unless it was free he probably wouldn't have been able to go.

The other thing I was thinking was this:  how on earth did they manage the health and safety aspect of things in sharpshooting exhibitions?   Any theories?

I think I've devoured every piece of newsprint that exists about this, MonicaL!    It really is an amazing story.     As I said, there are just a few little bits that I would like to confirm, if possible.
