I've also checked the two entries before this and it's definitely 5pm; the previous entry is 1hr 45m P.M.

Is George Black a "Visitor of Rathven"?

And sorry, yes I did know already that it was Nether Buckie, and I had worked out the "R". Duguid, just the letter before stumped me although I had guessed it might be "N".

But what's "MB" after Duguid's name then?

It looks like Kirton - but that doesn't make sense.

Might it be George Black's occupation? Not that I can determine what occupation it was, if it is that.

I could see Kirton too Pennines,but as you say it doesn't make sense.

I also thought it might say Native of, but that last letter with it's twiddly end makes me wonder what other letter it could be?

I thought Kirton too, and it might make sense if understood as Kir[k]ton.

Elsewhere in Scotland I've come across "Kirkton of ....." meaning a part of the parish close to the church. Someone familiar with Rathven might be able to say whether this term was ever used there.
