Welcome to Rootschat

The passenger list shows a 34yr old nurse called Theodora E Verhoeve on the same page as your mother.  I can see around 30 entries for other nurses on the same passenger list - most in their early 20’s

If you have Ancestry access - you can view the passenger list yourself on this link
https://www.ancestry.co.uk/search/collections/1518/

You have asked if anybody remembers this but as it was 66yrs ago it is most unlikely.  Also - many will be in their late 80’s or early 90’s if still alive and the older ones will have died

Hi again

Are you trying to find people on that same voyage who may remember your mother?

If not - could you tell us what info you are trying to find?

THanks all for the info!
Yeah my mother is 88 at the moment and she will be 89 in may.
We are trying to write down her memories, and one (a big one) is here time in New Zealand. so I'm trying to locate a few people (Or children of...) of het time there or on the ship.
The passengerlist of the Sibajak is already a great help!
Thanks again,
Lucien

Hello Lucien from NZ.

Where I live Cuperus is not a common surname. Therefore I will give some details of a Jan CUPERUS who left Ferwerd, Holland, to emigrate to NZ in January 1949. He and a friend learned English as they worked on NZ farms. In 1958 he married a Waikato woman, then bought a farm and raised a family, dying in 2016, aged 91. His widow is still alive, but in care with dementia.  This information is contained in a local book, but if he is a person of interest to your research, I will be able to give you contact details for a descendant.
