Hello Maria
I ordered a copy the year before last.
They don’t record a lot of information other than name, marital status, age, address at that time and occupation.
I.e There are no other people living in the household listed.
Also because of the 100 year closure it is only available for people who have died.
If the person died outside  Scotland then a certificate of death is also needed for the application.
It is available from the National Registers of Scotland and costs £15 or £5 search fee if the person can’t be found.
Hope this helps.
Were you looking for specific information on a person ?

As has has been stated the 1939 National Registration was not a Census.

That enabled the 1939 National Registration to be released early because it was not a census and therefore did not come under the Census Act, 1920 or indeed the Census Confidentially Act 1991.

Cheers
Guy

You can usually order a copy of an entry from that link, but they're not accepting applications by post due to COVID and the form says not to email credit card details for security reasons.

Wait out the pandemic, then try ordering!
