Hi everyone,

of William Alfred Robert Reid born Cawnpore India, 7 July 1869.
he married Margaret Ballance, Belfast 24 December 1903.
a son James Cyril was born in Belfast 1905.  died 21 January 1971.

some time 1905/1906 William left the army and sailed for Canada
                   a son H.was born in c1907 also a daughter V. in c1909.
sad to say that around 1909 William died, leaving a wife and 3
children.        the only thing I found was Margaret leaving in 1910
                   for home.

arrrival in Glasgow Scotland,12 June 1910.  from Montreal, Quebec.  Canada.
                 ship Ionian.

I do have death notices of Cyril James 1971 which gives me the sister married
still alive also a notice from a nephew “ son of Cyril’s brother “

if you can help fill in the few years they lived in Canada would be great.
sorry it’s not much to go on, thanks for your time and help.
                 best regards,      Billy.

No sign of a passenger list to Canada ? We have no idea where the family were destined to ??

Back at McClure Street Belfast in 1911

Hi everyone,
Many thanks for all the information, glad to see a date when they sailed
also where they where going to.   can’t work out putting Scotland down.

will try and work back and search for William’s death, thinking might
have been accident.  the 1971 death notices give me the children name
but nothing for Harold, I have him living in 1960.

just wondering who paid for Margaret’s trip home, any idea on the cost
of a ticket also did she have to pay for the children?
                    again many thanks,         Billy.
