Waterside, Derwenthaugh, County Durham
« on: Tuesday 30 March 21 11:01 BST (UK) »
I am 'very' unsure if I have used the correct (for restorers) way to re-size/ compress this photo. The file info for original scan was 5659x 3420 pixels and weighed in at a whopping 6.8MB.
I love it. This area was heavily industrialised (see the huge chimneys in the background) but this really showed me an oasis of beauty within. I was told by the contact who kindly sent it to me that it had been 'hand coloured' by the photographer.

Using my usual, unskilled, method of press buttons to see what happens, the attached version is 2122 x 1282 and the file size is 482kb (to conform to the max file size for posting). If its unsuitable for a clean up, then please don't waste any time.

If it 'is' suitable to give it a clean  then I would really appreciate it.

Thanks
Boo

Oh John - you made the sun come out and brightened everything up :-)
<if you can replicate that in real life, you'd be very welcome round here! >

Thank you, I do love this photo and its even better when its not so grubby.

She (and the neighbours) certainly did japeflakes. Hope the men didn't row to and from the pub. Going would be ok but getting back in the house after a few pints could have been eventful - that ladder doesn't look like it would pass a safety inspection :-)

Thank you, they are both lovely - the black and white one is really interesting, I suppose that's how most photos were at the time and I like old b/w photos but hadn't thought about how it would have looked if it wasn't coloured.

I couldn't get it under the 500kb without making it smaller and compressing abit.

A  lovely scene. I've just done a gentle clean.
