Robert Gibbons 1851 Census look up request.

1841 Census, Robert Gibbons aged 45 is in residence in Dearham Row,Cumberland along with wife Sarah and children,Stephen,Robert,Eleanor,William,Joseph and George.

He next appears in 1861 Census (Gibbins) as a widowed agricultural labourer, place of birth-West Layton, Yorkshire aged 66 in the household of his son, Stephen and his family in Moorside,Great Broughton.

Finally in the 1871 Census in Great Broughton, he is aged 75 years old, a widowed agricultural labourer-Birthplace Temple Sowerby. He is still living with son Stephen and family.

I spent a frantic weekend a couple of summers ago looking at all these places but have drawn a blank as to where Robert's actual birthplace was and I am hoping the 1851 Census might hold the key however try as I might, I can't find it.Sarah his wife should be in it as she died either in 1852 or 1856.

Can anyone help or advise please?

Ancestry has it as Gabbin b 1793 Westleton, Yorkshire

I've had to put up with a lot of spelling variations over the years  but Gabbin??

A lesson for any researcher to keep trying outside the square when it comes to names

After Googling Westleton, Yorkshire, I think it says West La(y)ton as on the 1861 Census.
