No idea which site would have given you a match;
Are you unable to contact the person who submitted the other " matching" sample?
That would seem to be a  sensible start point.

I'm not sure that we can give you any help unless you tell us which site you tested on.

Also, all the DNA sites that I know of have a  message facility where you can contact the match within the site.

Can you tell us the site you are using and we'll try to help.

Are you sure that it's a 42% DNA match because that suggests a sibling relationship.  What is the centimorgan figure. This would look something like xxxcM.

It was the heritage site and yes there was one connection that said cousin.On contact she had very little information except that her connection was her father Abraham who she didn't know of and he was now dead.Her daughter had found out that he had 6 brothers who one of which could possibly have been my connection born in 1922 Isidore schuman from I believe New york there was a 1930 and 40 census on which he was named,but that is as far as we can get.Mother Bessie and father Philip 1893.we believe the person above to have been in the american airforce based in England around late 50's / 60's and unfortunately that where the trail goes cold for us.

So was your shared DNA with  her  and what DNA details did it give.

My Heritage shows the amount of shared DNA  in the form of

Quote
DNA Match quality
2.8% (199.7‎ cM) Shared DNA
8 Shared segments
45.7‎ cM Largest segme

The above was from my 2nd cousin match

What did yours say?

Just put up the type of details that I've shown and don't show any names.
