Me and my mates used to go up that staircase from school to visit the museum, which, if my

memory serves, was on the top floor. At that time we didn't know of the tragic events that had

  occurred there.

The photos I posted on photo board were not approved for some reason

Maybe because I'd already posted one on here .

Hopefully one of the photo buffs will see this post and contribute their opinions regarding death masks and the collage and original sources of the newspapers photos and whether or not they'd have tried to neaten up the  pics

The children are very young to be going to a cinema hall alone
Aged 3-8

In that era, and even into the 1940s (from my own experience) it was not uncommon for small children to do things which would not be considered now.

Some what later, during the General sgtrike of 1926, a three year old boy took messages from the Union in Edlington Doncaster to Brodsworth, also Doncaster, a distance of some 6 miles. He did this because the police would not stop and detain him thinking he was too you to be involved. I was told this by the person concerned, Ken Sampey who became National President of the Pit Deputies Union (NACODS) during the 1970s. Also, it was quite common around 1950 or later for children to travel alone by rail, the guard was told of their presence and given the name of the person who would meet them and where. SAdly perhaos, it is considered no longer safe to do such things.
