John Pope was baptized 18 Aug 1782 Winkleigh, Devon

Son of Samuel Pope  b1751 who was son  of William Pope and Joan Lake

Mother Elizabeth Heale (Hele on marriage Bann)  birth unknown but listed as from Winkleigh parish on Bann.  There is a person Elizabeth Hele baptized 28 September 1746 in Winkleigh to Thomas Hele and Pascoe (Possibly Pennington from a suggestion by another researcher)  No supporting document that I can view but there is a film number that I am unable to access for a marriage 31 Jul 1746 Winkleigh Pascoe Pennington listed as spouse of Thomas Hele

There is a sister Elizabeth Pope BIRTH 1777  Winkleigh, Devon, England and there was a son John born Jul 1780 and passed 28 Aug 1781.

I have not found other siblings but assume I may have missed something.

I can confirm the 31 July 1746 marriage at Winkleigh between Pascoe PENNINGTON and Thos. HEALE - there is no more detail than that.
28 Sept 1746 baptism: Eliz. dau of Thos. and Pascow HEAL. (not HELE)
A Pascho HEAL was buried at Tavistock in 1763.

Thanks for the details above.  They lead to some documents for Thomas and Pascoe Heale

I have had messages from other researchers suggesting that John Pope b1782  married  an Elizabeth "Betty" Crocker baptized  15 Jul 1782 in Winkleigh.  They supposedly married 25 Dec 1802 in Winkleigh.  No supporting documents.

The Crocker name has come up a number of times in my research and has been a challenge as I have been unable to find a document.  Also, the given name John was common among the various Pope branches and they all lived in and around Winkleigh, Brushford, Ashreigny, Coldridge and Wembworthy.

Wondering if there is an online  resource I am missing.

Thanks for latest info. 

Family Search only shows a text record.  Looking at Find My Past but technical issue this morning. Could be my ISP as most sites work fine or Fund My Past having an issue.
