George W Vanmeter
Lydia Compton
married 12 April 1874, Tippecanoe, Indiana

---------
everything from here down is just a sketch of who he might be. A lot of this might be on familysearch, now that you know where to look.

He might be the man who was boarding with Martha Fletcher in Sugar Creek, Vigo, Indiana in 1900.

He married her 22 October 1906. his parents: Richard Van Meter, Lizzie Fulkerson

These dates fit the time line of what's known. In the Oct 1905 divorce clipping it states George & Lydia had been married 30 years(1874/1875). On George's marriage application to Martha in 1906, George states he was divorced in 1906. The legal notice s were for Nov 1905. Final divorce may have been in the first part of 1906.

There are various Van Meters on the local obituary index, including likely matches for George & Martha - http://www.vigo.lib.in.us/obituaries?format1=LN&searchdata1=van+meter&format2=FN&searchdata2=&format3=Year&searchdata3=&format4=Month&searchdata4=&submit=Search

I think this is Martha's death with her name mistranscribed - https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:VZ7B-WRG

If I have the right family in England, then Charles Bolton Clifton's parents were George D Clifton and Mary Langley Maile/Mayle.
Charles had a sister Emily G (Clifton) Neale, wife of Francis R Neale. She died 8 May 1943 in Seattle.
And a brother George Langley Clifton, husband of Sarah Lebeau, who lived in Chicago and died there in 1955.

But none of that helped me find Charles after 1899 in Sitka.
