George Frederick Davidson SMITH
« on: Saturday 03 April 21 08:23 BST (UK) »
Hi All,

I am trying to find any info on the Military Record for George Frederick Davidson SMITH, he was born in N.S.W. 1850 and died 1922, N.S.W.

As far as I know he was in The Light Horseman, that is all I know, any help very much appreciated,

His father was Thomas Tipple SMITH and his mother Elizabeth BEAN.

Thank you

Kind Regards

Cienna

Using NSW BDM you can find this birth, and other births to the same parents.

NSW BDM
1199/1850 V18501199 35    SMITH George F D parents Thomas T / Elizabeth

And this man was a veteran WW1, when he would be 64 years old at start of war, 1914?

Thank you Wivenhoe for your replies, I am helping an elderly man with his family tree and he tells me the info he has given me is correct, I did tell him George was far too old to be joining the armed forces.

I did do a further search and found a Frederick George born 1886, so I am under the impression this may be the George he is referring to, he is the son of the said George Frederick,  I will look into and see what I can come up with.

Thank you for your time, I appreciate it.

Kind Regards

Cienna.

All WW1 service records are indexed and digitised on the National Archives website.

" Morning All,

I have been unable to find any Military Records for George Frederick Davidson SMITH, family have always been told Frederick was a Light Horse Man, but no record found for him has been located, also anything on his death would be an added bonus, he died 10 Sep 1953, Riverstone, NSW, I have been unable to find accident reports or death notices.

Any help on these matters would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance

Cienna.

Are you interested in a death / funeral notice to clarify or enhance information you are working with?

Or is your purpose just the origins of the man who died 1953?

Anything you are able to find on Frederick will help, thank you Wivenhoe, I have exhausted every avenue, the elderly man I am helping said his mother told him Frederick (her uncle) was a Light Horse Man during the WW1, he was sent  Gallipoli, I have been unable to find anything on his Military or his death.

Thank you for your help, it is very much appreciated.
