Ann Provost no trace after 1841 census Preston

I've searched all the census records from 1851, marriage records, death and burials, etc, etc, but I can find no trace of her since age 11 on the 1841 census.
She was christened at St Denis/Dennis/Denys church York on 21 March 1830. Father Thomas, mother Jane. Both had died by the time she was 15. The family had moved to Preston by 1838.
Any help on where to look next would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Milliepede. Yes, she had a few at the time of her mother's death. I've checked as best I can but I've been unable to find anything to suggest who may have taken her in. I can only guess. Yes, I've ruled Annie out.

Yes I see the other children on the 1841 now. 

Same result as you I'm afraid with marriages and deaths but hopefully someone else will have better luck.

Not to be pessimistic or anything but I'm still looking for someone after more than a decade!

Can I ask what ruled out the Annie in Leeds only the name isn't that common?

I dismissed her on age and birth year but she's definitely worth researching further now you've pointed her out as a possibility.

What records could I check to make certain she's my Ann?

How much was the age out for Annie between the 1841 census (which I haven't found yet) and the possible 1861 one? The reason I am asking is that the general rule in 1841 was to round the age down to the nearest five, ie if 19, 15 was recorded.
