Thanks Rosie. This is a big possibility as Wigan and Clogg maker tie in. Fanny wasn't catholic, the marriage was not Catholic, but in Haigh wigan. John McCann's age was 20 and Fanny's 22. John McCann could have been Catholic, but was born Wigan. Is it possible that the ages may have been wrongly transcribed?

John McCann's Father was Patrick McCann on the 1841 census born Ireland so thay may have decided to go there.

It's possible that they knocked a few years off their age if you check the
civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie
You can view records for free there was a few children born to John and Fanny
Starting from a Mary Teresa McCann born 1864 Dundalk Louth Ireland I would say there is a strong possibility this is the same family

Thanks for this information, I'll take a look at the site. It's looking like they left sometime after the death of Mary Ellen in 1857. I wonder what happened to child Margaret born 1852?

Thank you so much everyone. This is great, I'm busy filling this in to my tree and I've also found another Ancestry member has them in their tree too.
