Horans Castleisland
« on: Tuesday 06 April 21 18:06 BST (UK) »
Hello Everyone,
I have a DNA match with a few people from the Horan family in Castleisland.I have been looking for records on Timothy Horan born in 1787 in Portsea Hampshire UK.But his father was also a Timothy Horan born around 1740. It says he sailed from Rosscarbery and was captain of a vessel trading between Cork and Portsmouth UK. Any Ideas anyone please?

You could search church records at www.irishgenealogy.ie under Kerry RC

Back Again!!! Staill none the wiser on the Horan family.
Just wondering if anyone know where i can find reconrds for Timothy Horan baptized in 1741 Saint Botolph Without Aldersgate, London, London Parent;s Timthy and Elizabeth?
I have an idea it's not the Irish Sailing Horans that I am a descendant of I match one person and think shes got the wrong family too  :D
I do have a DNA match to a person with castleisland but this could possibly not be the Horan connection but another family .

Did you spot Elizabeth Horan, same parents, same location, same date of baptism?

Yes that is how I think that could be the correct family.
Everyone on Ancestry for some reason have included the Sailing Horan in their family I don't think anyone's DNA match !! Saying that I can't find any matches for this Tim Horan either

I have a marriage in my family tree, of Margaret (or Mary) Horan to a Daniel Reidy at Castleisland in 1827.   I would like to expand my knowledge of the Horans too.   Is anyone able to assist please?

Hello George

Daniel Reidy and Margaret Horan had at least three children in Castleisland - Catherine, Patrick and Maurice, who probably show in your Family Tree, so no links needed.

Sponsors for Patrick include a Timothy Horan.
Sponsors were usually (but not always) relatives, so was Timothy a brother of your Margaret?

Regards

Thank you for the assistance with my Margaret Horan query.

My record indicates Daniel Reidy and Margaret Horan also had a son Daniel Reidy (my great great grandfather), born 1827.  I think their children also included a Bridget and a Margaret Reidy.

Daniel, husband of Margaret Horan, was born about 1800.   However I don't have any information about Margaret, other than a name.    It would be nice to look one generation above her, to see if I can link in to another tree, and explain a DNA match.

It is good to have your confirmation, it does firm up my knowledge to date.
