General question WW2

Just a general question,  not relating to anyone in particular, if the following is on a record is it possible that they would not have served in WW2


They enlisted for deferred service at a combined recruitment centre. They joined after September 1941.

Whoops! sorry that question was not quite worded correctly, did not mean to add WW2, just a general question if they would have served at all.
